'tulipanes bailando'

on a very chilly early April afternoon, when returning from my run, I find three tulips tossed onto the pathway... I can’t let them stay there and freeze, so I pick them up and take them home with me, put them into a glass filled with a tad of water and delight in their delicate scent filling my kitchen; as always then of course compelled to capture the opening of the blossoms, the changing of colors, the increasing translucency – particularly as they mature; which is when I hear of the passing of my most important mentor while in the world of dance... the day I found the tulips, the last he was amongst us; I spent an entire week in deep grief and mourning – and, those tulips started to dance.

the shape of this particular tulip has in fact resemblance to a signature move of his that could be found in almost all of his works...
and I created a collection of 66 images (his age when passing), allocated to 6 different formats, inserted into delicate glass frames – for a floating sculpture, dancing in response to air currents...
(a few more of those special tulips can be found under featured)

below I snug during a performance, clutching onto an old-fashioned analogue camera that I hoped nobody would see (again, those image capturing devices my most favorite companions) – the clacking of the mirror then of course giving me away, so this one single shot is all I dared...

a crude phone-scan of a silver gelatin print I then made, back when I still spent ample time in the darkroom; I may be going back there, to hand-printing – to more of the craft...
